There is something you should know about me: I am a die-hard Transformers fan since I stepped foot on American soil in 1987.
This morning, while looking through different sell sheets of upcoming products I came across a checklist for a new Transformers trading card set produced by Topps based on the upcoming sequel (view trailer) and came upon something so amazing I nearly had a “fan boy” moment.
No, Megan Fox’s autograph will not be in this set (she was last year) but one name did catch my attention. While most collectors and fans of the movie will be happy to see certified autographs of Shia LeBeouf, there is a lesser-known actor by the name of Peter Cullen included in the autograph set. In case you’re in the dark, he’s the voice of Optimus Prime in the original 80′s cartoon and in the new movies.
Along with certified autographs, the set will also include temporary tattoos, die-cut pop ups, and sketch cards. There are no images available at this time but I will get them on Wax Heaven as soon as they become available.
P.S. – I hate what Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg have done with this franchise.

I’ve been financing my return to the hobby by selling my old generation 1 Transformers. Once those are gone I guess I’ll have to switch to plasma and body parts.
The geek in me says that’s pretty cool.
Now if they can get Frank Welker (Megatron) and Robert Foxworth (Rachet from the movie and countless TV, movie and game show appearances of the 70′s & 80′s) that would be even cooler.
um, sorry mario, but the transformer movie was one of the awesomest things i have ever seen. period.
Hey Mario,
If you get any of the temporary tats I’ll trade you for them. My son scott loves transformers.
Mario, I totally agree on the new Transformer movies! Michael Bay made excuses for how they looked, saying they had to be totally redesigned, but that was crap. Here’s a link to a video that shows how they could’ve looked. This isn’t the highest quality CGI, but with a modern blockbuster’s budget, they could’ve looked spectacular in G1 form. There’s no excuse.
Also, on the topic of original (G1) Transformers, you can get an official Chinese release of the original cartoon with the movie for around $80. It’s even Region 1 encoded, and it has the full, original English audio. I have it, and I’m really enjoying going through all the old episodes again. They just don’t make cartoons like that anymore…
I’m looking forward to Jennifer’s Body. Megan had no real meaty scenes in How to lose friends and alienate people. And in Transformers she was pretty much mute.
Shes also up for the role of Leila in Jonah Hex with Josh Brolin.
She would be a perfect Wonder Woman thought!
