As a tribute to the Kennedy brothers, Topps has included a very rare relic card #’d to five copies featuring John, Robert, and Ted Kennedy, who succumbed to Cancer two weeks ago.
This is Topps’ second card featuring Ted Kennedy being released since his death. The first was an eTopps release which you can read about here.
Upper Deck also paid tribute to the iconic Ted Kennedy with a card in the Philadelphia Football brand, which was released before his untimely death at 77.
2009 Topps Triple Threads arrives in store later this month.

Wow, that is a horrid looking card. That being said, I wouldn’t complain if it ended up in a pack I opened.
I agree with R-. UGLY card, but it’s gonna be big $$$ on the secondary market for whoever pulls it.
When will the card companies just let someone rest in peace? At least let the body get cold before you’re trying to make money off of them…
I kind of like the black/white look with the light brown relics. No need to say that it will sell for crazy $ when it hits ebay
Another idea destroyed by ridiculous die cut windows. Triple Threads is an abomination.
The JFK portion is probably the sweater they’ve been using for other versions of TT. But is the wood from the pier Teddy drove off of?
I thought ttt was coming out in oct.?
Great looking card though.
What a bunch of money-hungry asses. I put these card companies on par with the street vendors in China Town that sold Michael Jackson T-shirts less than a day after his death. It’s starting to seem like the only cards you’ll ever have a shot of not pulling are dead people and Obama.
Just because people pay ludicrous sums of money to buy these things doesn’t mean it’s a good idea to keep pumping them out. While it seems like a large portion of the hobby is just concerned with how “OMFG SICK” a card is; I’m sure there are some people that believe tact is moderately important.
It’s definitely not the patches in Triple Threads that are “sick”, it’s the company itself.
By the way, Mario, you should change the title of this post to “Topps CASHES IN on the Kennedys.
just a thought…
I would rather have a mel ott card than a ca mel ot
the whole thing why a lot of people like this card is value. sure, a few people that want it could pull it but most would be happy to pull just to sell for more and get $$ for what they really want.
If value did not exist I think the general collector would want something else. I mean cant we let a guy RIP
I’m waiting for the Teddy Kennedy and Mary Jo Kopechne dual auto card.
what did the pieces of wood come from?
A desk or chair or something?
The pieces of wood are from a floor in the Capital Building.
