Looks good. I’m guessing the red swoops on the left hand side of the card will reflect the team’s primary color. I wonder if that is the actual Pujols card. If so, it’s a great, highly detailed shot; hope to see it in the set. At a glance I still like this year’s design a bit better, but this is a great follow up! Can’t wait, Topps!
Now the only question is whether or not they will overload it with useless inserts and overprice it. This is exactly the type of product that should be 10-15 cards for a dollar with just one or two baseball related inserts and no high-priced relics/autos.
I’m going a different route on this one, I am not a fan, I loved everything up to last year but this is more of a throwback to the early 90s. Sorry to feel this way but I can’t help it.
Wow. I love the design. Looks pretty classy. Better 2009 (which was pretty cool). Makes me wish I could see some other examples…like an Orioles version.
So far I like the design. It will look cool if they continue with the “throwback” Topps logo on them. If they match the design with team colours, that is always a plus.
Hey are they going to change the release date as they are the only official set in town now???
Does everybody miss those Thanksgiving release dates or is spring training just right for new cards??
I remember the 70′s waitng til March or even April for new Topps.
Also does the Mantle contract continue for 2010??
Heck i still got to order a series 2 baseball complete set soon………..
Not a fan in the slightest of this new design. There’s too much gimmicky crap on the front getting in the way of what really matters: the photography!
Topps, you’re the king of baseball cards–can’t you give us something that looks a bit more professional? I mean, who’s idea was it to make the team logo so huge? Why is there a giant kool-aid wave headed towards Albert?
I’ve seen some bad card designs in my years of collecting, but this may take the cake.
I like it a lot. As long as they leave the foil OFF and the player’s position ON and have great photography this will be a good year to collect the flagship.
Looks like a minor tweak from this year’s design. If the photography is good, they can scrap the white border. Its not bad but i would prefer if they use the team logos instead of the gigantic team name.
I just want to add that Topp’s obsession with the border probably stems from the dumb idea of the need to have a gold parallel. Dumb parallels…Go full bleed.
Its growing on me. I like it. No foil please. It will awsome if they keep the name as is. Topps have been foil happy for years. Bring back Team photo’s and Team stats
Wow, I get to comment first for once. I like the design! Great scoop.
Thanks for the comment.
Topps sent out the image to a few sites, including this one.
I will continue to try to get scoops, though.
Looks like a simple but great design. If I were still into baseball I might give it a go.
The design kinda reminds me of the front of a team schedule. I like it!
Add in etching, and this will make a great chrome set next year.
Love it.
It reminds me of another card design, but exactly what escapes me right now.
I’m actually not really a fan. Not that I buy much flagship stuff anyway. It just seems so… generic.
I love the design, as I said on my blog also. Countdown to Beckett crying to Topps….
Great design as long as they don’t ruin it by putting the player & team names in foil like they did this year.
Love it. Hopefully that arch on the side frames all of their selected photos as it does with this one.
I like it.
Total shock, I know.
I love it. Reminds me of one of the late 90′s Fleer Ultra sets… can’t remember which one exactly.
Add in etching, and this will make a great chrome set next year.
My thoughts exactly.

I actually don’t like it very much. it reminds me of some bad mid-90′s design.
Looks sharp! I like the team logo.
Great design
Wow, I really like it! I think it’s the best one they’ve had in a couple of years. Much better than this year’s. Simple, yet effective. Love it!
I must say I love it too, Topps has been a little flat lately but this is a nice case look.
nicely mixes the traditional with the modern….I can definitely live with it, tho I prefer this years
For those who think the design looks familiar, it looks like the 2002 Post set.

Nice. The use of the team script logo reminds me of 92 upper deck.
needs about an 8th of an inch more red. I wonder what the horizontal cards will look like — I don’t see it transferring all that well.
Sweet! Nice design Topps and good job Mario for getting it out there! Can’t wait!
I hope they keep a similar design for other base products but too bad basketball won’t be one of them.
I like this design too!

I agree with a fellow poster. The photography really stands out in the design.
Makes sense that Topps would accentuate the team names since they are the only one able to use them.

pretty nice but it reminds me of this year’s design.
Meh… not great, not horrible. I’ll cheer if the player name isn’t in foil on the actual cards, but I have a feeling it will be.
Not bad. The team logo seems a tad large. Looks like a wall poster.
Love this design.

That would look really good… if it were full-bleed. The white border really hurts the design (and the log o is kind big too, but that’s not as bad).
I just want to add that Topp’s obsession with the border probably stems from the dumb idea of the need to have a gold parallel. Dumb parallels…Go full bleed.
I don’t like it, but it could be worse. I think the team logo is way too big. Makes it look like a team set card or something.
Its growing on me. I like it. No foil please. It will awsome if they keep the name as is. Topps have been foil happy for years. Bring back Team photo’s and Team stats
